I have a fetish for dead wrestlers. I don't know why but as far back as i can remember i have always been fascinated by professional wrestlers dying. I only ever use to be into wrestling when i was a kid in the late 80's early 90's. These were the days of Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior, The Legion of doom etc and i was strictly into WWF and i defiantly thought it was real. At this time i was a skinny little kid in England and these humongous wrestlers from America seemed like something from a another planet. Everything from America seems better than what you have when you are a UK kid, especially during the 80's/90's before the Internet ,when all you had to get your USA info was sky TV and your mad uncle. So these fully ripped cartoon character wrestlers with mullets running around in their pants beating each other up was like the most fascinating thing you had ever seen.
When i get told one of these super heroes has died, to this day it still has a strange effect on me and i don't even give a fuck about wrestling anymore (I'm strictly UFC now). I don't know what it is but i just need to know everything about how that fucker died, what were the circumstances and if possible, show me a video. Because this goes on in America you also often get the added bonus of a conspiracy theory thrown in for extra excitement.
I have been doing some research into wrestler deaths and first of all, let me just say, i didn't even know the Texas Tornado only had one foot. I didn't know Ravishing Rick Rude was dead and i certainly didn't realise there was a conspiracy theory suggesting that satanists killed Chris Benoit and made it look like a suicide.
Wrestler deaths of any kind are fascinating, weather it is a murder, a ring accident (which i find particularly intriguing) or a health issue. Anyway if you look at all the wrestlers who have passed away, you can see that a disproportionately large number of them have died as result of some sort of heart failure. I just find it fascinating that these men live this lifestyle. Piling on so much muscle, eating all sorts of fucked up diets and using drugs to mutate their bodies. The rewards are high for being a pro wrestler, but they live with this knowledge that they are fucking themselves up every which way and putting their lives at risk. The psychological pressure of that alone must surely take it's toll.
Anyway like most things which intrigue us i don't think i can fully explain why i am so fascinated with dead wrestlers but here are some links i have found:
List of dead wrestlers with pictures (i love the fact that when you move the mouse over the wrestler the cause of death pops up. Nice touch).
Wrestlings dirty secret (Article on health issues faced by wrestlers)
Top 10 wrestler deaths (Have to say, this would not be my top 10)
Just type in 'wrestling accidents' on youtube and you will find all sorts of videos of wrestlers breaking there necks and stuff in the ring.
Sorry about the music in this video.
But you wont find these Lucha Libre ones, which for some reason seem a bit more creepy
